Nikkie tutorials gave Adele a half-face makeup in her latest “Power of Makeup” video
Nikkie Tutorials is pretty much the Queen glamorous makeup; it’s no wonder she’s amassed over 13 million subscribers on YouTube alone. Many people first discovered Nikkie in 2015 when her Power of Makeup video went viral. In it, Nikkie applies makeup products to half of her face to show how makeup can transform the face and to speak candidly about how beauty is a place of experimentation and pleasure. Since then, she’s turned Power of Makeup into a series, inviting Kim Kardashian and Drew Barrymore to get their (half) makeup done by Nikkie while she interviews them. The latest celebrity to join us is the talented singer Adele.
The video, which debuted on December 2, follows the familiar format: Nikkie chats with singer Taurus about her album, her fame and, of course, her makeup, while showing off just 50% of her face. ‘Adele. Nikkie’s interview chops (and foundation blending skills) are immediately apparent, as she doesn’t start with a typical question but dive right into what you probably didn’t even realize you were wondering: “Is Adele still feels like your own name? ”
The conversation continues with Nikkie asking a new question with each new layer of makeup. Of course, this is Nikkie Tutorials we’re talking about, so you know the final look will be awesome no matter what. It’s the “Someone Like You” singer’s candid thoughts on her relationship to makeup, fame and everything in between that will keep you going for 29 minutes and 50 seconds.
Some key takeaways: Although Adele enjoys makeup, especially eyeliner, she doesn’t consider herself to be good at all. She swears she can’t apply makeup products, especially lip liner and eyelashes, to save her life, but she loves a good eyebrow, a manicure, and of course a cat’s eye. “I think an eyebrow and a fingernail, and you’re good to go,” she says in the video. In fact, she keeps her eyebrows dyed dark brown and even learned how to dye them at home once the pandemic started and she couldn’t get them professionally done. She swears she looks like Voldemort without her dyed eyebrows because of their beauty.
Adele also reveals that she loves her fingernails so much – which are a cute almond shape in some sort of animal print (I’m going to put my money on the leopard or the turtle) – that when it comes time to choose between keeping her long manicures and playing the guitar, she stuck with the tips. We certainly understand, Adele.
